Public Health

The Public Health Flight is made up of two elements: Force Health Management and Community Health. Force Health Management is responsible for deployment medical clearances and occupational health programs. Community Health focuses on food safety, communicable diseases and vector surveillance. The Public Health Flight supports all beneficiary categories.

OCONUS Leave Checklist – Travel Medicine Instructions

Prior to OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) leave, please follow these instructions to ensure you receive the necessary travel medicine information and documentation.

Pretravel Brief:
  • Visit either:
    • The Public Health office (located on the Second Floor, South Entrance)
    • The Infectious Diseases clinic (located in the Internal Medicine Clinic, First Floor, south end)
  • Purpose: To receive your Pretravel Brief, which provides essential health information and recommendations for your destination.
  • Outcome: Upon completion of the Pretravel Brief at either location, Public Health will provide you with a Travel Medicine Memorandum. This memorandum must be included in your OCONUS leave packet.  

Travel Appointment Not Required:

A travel medicine appointment is not required if you are traveling solely to any of the following countries or states:
  • Alaska
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Hawaii
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Singapore
  • Western Europe: Portugal, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland
